Accessibility

Rally House Padel wants everyone to be able to book a court and play. This is an honest account of where this website stands.

What we aim for

This website aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. It is a demonstration site for a fictional business, so the statement below describes the demo and not a legal compliance audit.

What we checked

  • Every page works with a keyboard only. Focus rings are visible, there is a skip link, and the booking grid can be crossed with the arrow keys.
  • Text and controls were checked for colour contrast in both the light and the dark theme, at the 4.5 to 1 level for body text and 3 to 1 for large text.
  • The booking grid announces the chosen day, each selected court and the final booking through a live region. Every slot button carries its full description, such as court, day, time, peak or off-peak, price and availability.
  • Pages reflow at 320 pixels wide and at 200% zoom with no sideways scrolling. Touch targets are at least 44 pixels square.
  • If your device asks for reduced motion, the animated rally on the home page, the scrolling ticker and the reveal effects are switched off. Everyone else can stop the rally with the Pause rally button.
  • You can choose a light or dark theme with the button in the header. The choice is remembered on your device.
  • Images have text alternatives, forms have visible labels, and errors are written next to the field they belong to.

The venue

Court-side wheelchair access is available on courts 1 and 2 with level entry and wide doors. The changing rooms include an accessible room with a shower and bench. Blue badge parking is by the front door. If you need anything arranged in advance, tell us and we will have it ready.

Known gaps

  • The booking grid on large screens has eighty buttons. Arrow keys make it quick, but a screen reader user may prefer the list view, which appears on narrower screens.
  • The map on the visit page is a simple drawing with a text description. Directions are written out in full above it.
  • This is a demonstration: the booking and enquiry forms do not send anything, and the availability shown is generated.
  • The page animations use the browser’s view transitions where supported. Browsers that lack them simply load the next page.
