How we work
We build every room in our own workshop, then fit it in your garden in five to eight days. One fixed price, one team, one ten-year guarantee.
What is inside the wall
Built like a small house, not a big shed.
Seven layers, about 175 mm thick. It is why a Fieldhouse room is comfortable at 7.40 on a frosty morning and does not cook in July.
- Cladding, 20 mmCharred larch, cedar or painted larch, fixed with stainless screws.
- Vented cavity, 38 mmLets the wall breathe and dry. Insect mesh at the top and bottom.
- Breather membraneKeeps rain out, lets moisture escape.
- Sheathing ply, 9 mmBraces the frame so the room stays square for decades.
- Insulated frame, 100 mmTimber studs filled with PIR board. The same job a house wall does.
- Vapour barrierStops warm, damp air reaching the cold side of the wall.
- Birch ply lining, 12 mmThe finished inside wall, sealed with a matt hard-wax oil.

From first chat to finished room.
Most rooms are complete 8 to 12 weeks after the deposit. Nothing is built until you have a fixed price in writing.

Forty-five minutes, free. We look at the spot, the access and the boundaries, and talk about how you will really use the room.
A fixed quote
One written price with VAT, installation and electrics inside it. It only changes if you change the room.
Deposit and planning check
25% secures your build slot. We confirm that permitted development applies, or prepare the application for you.
Built in the workshop
Frame, insulation, cladding and glazing are fitted under cover, so the weather never delays your room.
Installed in 5 to 8 days
Ground screws, floor, walls, roof, electrics. We leave the garden tidy. The balance is due on completion.
Walk-through and certificates
We show you everything, hand over the guarantee and electrical certificates, and leave a care guide for the cladding.

The Office and the Gym are built and furnished at Ashgrove Workshop, with cladding and glazing samples to hold up to your own light.

Ten-year structural guarantee
On the frame, floor and roof, insurance-backed so it stands even if we do not.
Fixed price, simple payments
25% deposit, balance on completion. Your quote includes VAT, delivery, installation and the electrics pack.
Building Regulations
Not normally needed under 15 m² internal floor area, or 15 to 30 m² if at least 1 m from any boundary and built of mainly non-combustible materials. We will advise.
How long does a room take?
From deposit to finished room is usually 8 to 12 weeks. The build happens in our workshop over four to six weeks, then the install on your site takes 5 to 8 days.
Do I need planning permission?
Most rooms we build fit within permitted development. The configurator checks your plot as you go, and we confirm it in writing before you pay a deposit. Read the rules in plain English.
Can you get a room into a narrow garden?
Yes. We build in panels and need a clear route at least 900 mm wide, or a space for a small crane. We visit first and tell you before we quote.
What is not included in the price?
Nothing on the list you see. Delivery, installation, electrics up to 15 m from your house board, and VAT are in. A shower room, air-conditioning, decking and a canopy are optional and priced above.
