Solar and battery, sized to your roof.

Tell us which way your roof faces and how many 440W panels you are considering. You get a system size, a yearly generation range and an installed price range, with the workings shown. Your survey replaces all of it with a proper design.

01 Roof sizer

Build your system.

Devon roofs typically generate about 950 to 1,050 kWh a year for every kWp of panels when they face south. Other directions generate less. Move the dial and the stepper and watch the numbers change.

Which way does your main roof face?

North-facing main roof? Output is much lower. Tell us at survey and we will look at your other roof faces.

Pitch moves output by a few percent either way.

Number of 440W panels

Between 6 and 20 panels. Each is about 1.7 metres by 1.1 metres.

02 Batteries

A battery stores. It does not generate.

Panels make most of their power around midday. Most households use most of theirs in the morning and evening. A battery holds the middle of the day for later, so less of it goes back to the grid.

5kWh, £3,200

A sensible fit for a smaller system and a household that is mostly out during the day.

10kWh, £5,400

For larger systems, working from home, an electric car or a heat pump drawing in the evening.

Added later, or now

Fitting the battery with the panels is cheapest. We can also add one to an existing system, subject to the inverter.

03 What is in the price

One quote, nothing hidden.

  • Panels, mounting and inverter

440W panels, roof mounting kit, inverter and a generation monitor. Warranties vary by product and are stated in your quote.

  • Scaffold and fitting

Access scaffold, our own fitters and electrician, and a tidy site. A roof array normally takes one to two days.

  • MCS certificate

Needed to be paid for exported power under the Smart Export Guarantee. We register it for you.

  • Network operator notification

We notify your district network operator and handle the paperwork before and after the install.

Do I need planning permission?

Usually not. Rooftop solar on most homes is permitted development. Listed buildings and some conservation areas are exceptions, and we check at survey.

Do panels work on cloudy days?

Yes, at a lower output. The estimates above are annual figures for Devon, so they already include cloud, rain and short winter days.

Will I be paid for power I export?

If your supplier offers a Smart Export Guarantee tariff and your system is MCS certified, yes. Rates vary by supplier, so we do not quote a figure.

Check your roof properly.

We measure the roof, check shading and the electrics, and design the array. Free, with a written quote after.
